Course Description
One-Day Introductory Workshop | Hands-On | Da Vinci 4th Gen
Not every surgeon gets to train on multi-million euro robotic equipment. This is your chance.
About This Course
ISLE Academy opens the door to robotic thoracic surgery with a one-day immersive workshop built for surgeons who are serious about their future. This is not a lecture. It is a structured, hands-on initiation into the tools, logic, and clinical mindset that define modern robotic thoracic practice.
Designed as the essential first step in a progressive curriculum, this Basic course is the gateway to ISLE Academy’s forthcoming Advanced modules. Participants who complete it today will be positioned to advance further as the programme grows — building competence layer by layer, the right way.
| ⚙ EQUIPMENT THAT DEFINES THE EXPERIENCE
ISLE Academy’s training infrastructure includes two da Vinci 4th Generation robotic systems and the ERMIS VR simulation platform. Access to this level of technology is rare outside leading surgical centres. You will use it, hands-on, guided by expert faculty.
This is not a demonstration. You will be at the console. |
Scientific Direction: Dr. Felix Dobritoiu
This program is the vision of Dr. Felix Dobritoiu — a recognized expert in robotic thoracic surgery who has built this course with a clear purpose: to share hard-earned expertise with the next generation of surgeons and to raise the standard of robotic surgical education in the region.
Dr. Dobritoiu leads not only as a clinician but as a mentor. His commitment to hands-on, peer-to-peer knowledge transfer is woven into every session. Participants do not just learn from a curriculum — they learn from a surgeon who has navigated the robotic learning curve and wants to help peers do the same, faster and more deliberately.
What You Will Experience
The day moves from theory into practice, building understanding before asking for execution:
- Theoretical grounding in robotic thoracic surgery — when, why, and how
- Da Vinci 4th Generation system orientation and technical familiarization
- Rotational hands-on sessions: console practice (Parts 1–3), patient cart overview, docking, tissue practice
- ERMIS VR simulation exposure — guided and assessed
- Video case observation and clinical analysis with faculty
- Championship rounds: docking scenario, console performance, full system usage, written assessment
- Awards ceremony, wrap-up, and Certificate of Attendance

Observe → Execute → Refine
Small groups. Maximum trainer-participant contact. No passive attendance. |
Why This Course Matters — And Why Now
- Robotic thoracic surgery is growing rapidly; early, structured exposure accelerates the entire learning curve
- Access to a two da Vinci 4th Gen systems outside of a live operating theatre is extraordinarily rare
- This Basic course is the prerequisite for all future advanced courses in ISLE Academy’s robotic thoracic curriculum — do not skip the foundation
- Seats are strictly limited to 12 participants — the format is intentionally small to protect quality
- Designed and led by Dr. Dobritoiu, whose personal investment in participant progress sets this apart from standard industry courses
