Romanian Cardiac MRI Course 2nd Edition
Available
Course Description
Dates: October 16–17, 2026
Location: Bucharest, Romania
Venue: Courtyard by Marriott Bucharest Floreasca Hotel
Following the success of its inaugural edition, the Romanian Cardiac MRI Course returns for a second edition. This comprehensive two-day program is designed for healthcare professionals seeking foundational knowledge and structured hands-on experience in Cardiac Magnetic Resonance. Under the direction of Dr. Sebastian Onciul, Dr. Răzvan Capșa, Dr. Sebastian Militaru, and Dr. Monica Roșca, and delivered by an expanded faculty of Romanian and international experts, the course maintains its balanced format of theoretical lectures, interactive discussion, and supervised practical work.
Highlights of the Program:
- Core Cardiac MRI Concepts: Safety and contraindications, gadolinium-based contrast agents, basic CMR physics, sequences and protocols, chamber quantification, artifacts, imaging in arrhythmic patients and patients with CIEDs, extracardiac findings, and CMR reporting.
- Pathology-Focused Modules: Myocarditis, CMR in systemic inflammatory and autoimmune disease, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and its phenocopies (amyloidosis, Fabry disease, iron overload), dilated and non-dilated left ventricular cardiomyopathy, arrhythmogenic cardiomyopathy, ischemic heart disease including MINOCA and microvascular obstruction, pericardial disease, cardiac masses, valvular and vascular disease, and congenital heart disease.
- Hands-On Training: Four supervised workshop sessions covering function and volume analysis, LGE and mapping quantification for myocardial structure assessment, ischemic heart disease, flow quantification, and congenital disease cases — each led by senior faculty with a dedicated team of tutors to ensure a low participant-to-instructor ratio.
- International Faculty: Sessions delivered by leading European specialists, including S. Plein, Pankaj Garg, Manish Motwani, Théo Pezzel, A. Florian, and M. Amzulescu, alongside an established Romanian faculty.
- Interactive Learning: Q&A segments following every lecture and a closing quiz to consolidate knowledge.
Who Should Attend?
Cardiologists, radiologists, and trainees aiming to develop essential CMR competencies and prepare for advanced applications in clinical practice.
Learning Objectives:
- Understand the physical principles, sequence design, and safety protocols underpinning CMR.
- Select and apply appropriate CMR protocols across a broad spectrum of cardiac pathology.
- Identify and interpret key imaging findings in cardiomyopathies, inflammatory disease, ischemic heart disease, and congenital conditions.
- Perform quantitative analysis of function, volumes, myocardial structure, and flow through guided hands-on exercises.
- Produce structured, clinically actionable CMR reports.
Course Structure
The course spans two full days. Each day combines morning and afternoon lecture blocks with Q&A, interspersed with immersive hands-on workshops on dedicated analysis workstations. Day 1 focuses on CMR fundamentals, tissue characterization, and the cardiomyopathies; Day 2 addresses ischemic heart disease, pericardial and valvular pathology, cardiac masses, flow, and congenital disease, closing with an interactive quiz.
