Robotic Surgical Excellence in Gynecology / Advanced Workshop (R-SEGA)

Course Description

For the second consecutive year, the 1st Gynecological Clinic of Metropolitan General in collaboration with ISLE ACADEMY are organizing the 3-day R-SEGA Workshop, a pioneering event dedicated to robotic surgery in gynecology. The goal of the workshop is to bring together leading experts from around the world to share knowledge, develop skills, and present the latest advancements in the field of robotic gynecological surgery.

During the R-SEGA Workshop, participants will have the opportunity to train in advanced robotic and minimally invasive gynecological surgical techniques, using biological tissue simulation models. This exceptionally realistic practice in high-precision surgical simulation will offer participants a unique opportunity to develop their skills.

Training

Participants will have the opportunity to perform surgical procedures using 4th generation robotic systems, such as hysterectomy, myomectomy, oophorectomy, salpingectomy, and peritoneal biopsies. During the first day of the workshop, they will attend robotic surgeries while, in the following days of the R-SEGA, they will be practicing robotic surgical techniques on a rotational basis in various workstations.

Practical Experience

During their 2-day rotation schedule taking place at the state-of-the-art facilities of ISLE ACADEMY, participants will perform intensive hands-on sessions aiming to complete the demanding indicated exercises and procedures according to their level of expertise.

Observation of LIVE Robotic Interventions

As part of the comprehensive training, there will be an opportunity to observe real-time gynecological robotic surgeries in the contemporary operating rooms of Metropolitan General during the first day of the workshop. This innovative training approach follows the modern trends that aim to the enhancement of knowledge and skills of professionals in the field of gynecological robotic surgery.

Dr. Nikolaos Plevris, inspirator and scientific leader of the workshop, Director of the First Gynecological Clinic – Department of Robotic and Laparoscopic Surgery at Metropolitan General, stated: “We wish all participants a constructive and educational experience. Acknowledging the importance of practical exercise, our goal with this workshop is to facilitate and ensure the extensive familiarization of participants with robotic surgical systems in gynecology, via extensive hands-on practice and a tailored-structured curriculum.”

Dates and Location

The R-SEGA Workshop will take place from February 15 to 17, 2024, at ISLE ACADEMY (119 Kifisias Ave, Marousi) and at Metropolitan General (264 Mesogeion Ave, Cholargos).
